Love you Pop.
I remember the late nights on the patio on Happy Lake. Grandpa playing guitar and Unk with the accordion rocking out. Such a great family we have! He will be missed but is in great company. <3 Karma Steffens (Greenly)
ReplyDeleteMy memories are: his 'larger than life' presence, his booming infectious laugh, his take-no-prisoners style of card playing (specifically at Shanghai- SANDBAGGER!), Happy Lake memories of lots of cribbage, horseshoe, wonderful music and general raucousness, the sweet softness in his face when he was around little children, his kindness in making and installing a handrail and stairway ironwork so our little Amy would be safe going up and down the stairs, his love of all family, and his frankness (you always knew where you stood 'cause he'd tell ya!) ....Lonny and I were remembering today and he has some good memories- most not obituary appropriate :)- sure hope he has a chance to share them with you kids sometime.... Just want to say our lives were richer for having known and loved Unk.
ReplyDeleteI always compared him to The Crusher from wrestling. Bigger than life with a huge laugh. Accordion playing when we got together. Actually, there are so many memories, I am having trouble getting them to come out one at a time. He will be GREATLY missed!!!!
